According to a recent VRMA Press Release, the “Family Reunion” is growing in popularity.  Here are some of the stats:

  • 23% of leisure travelers said it was the primary reason they were traveling during the past year;
  • this is an increase of 13% over 2008;
  • 2.45 million family reunion travelers who took an overnight trip of at least 75 miles from home in 2008 indicated staying in a vacation rental.

Interesting stats!  Is your Vacation Rental business and properties family reunion friendly?  As VRMA points out: The vacation rental option often costs less than reserving multiple hotel rooms, and homes can even be rented side-by-side in the same neighborhood.  Vacation Rentals provide a sense of privacy under one roof, rather than the stress of requesting adjoining rooms, remembering floor numbers, and designating “family” floor monitors to keep a watchful eye out for “tween” and teen members of the group.

Bottom line?  If your inventory contains individual properties or properties in close proximity that make sense for large groups like Family Reunions, create some special content and offers on your website to attract this target group.  And, if you have already hosted Family Reunions, don’t forget to blog about them as Success Stories and obtain “testimonials” and reviews from the Organizers.

Family Reunions are growing and Vacation Rentals are a terrific cost-saving option for small, medium and larger lodging needs.
