Tip #1 - Your reservation history is a mailing list
This may be very obvious to many of you, but we are constantly surprised how many lodging companies that don't capture and enter email addresses for all their guests in their PMS. Provided that your privacy policy discloses that you may do occasional mailings and your email marketing system is CAN-SPAM compliant, not emailing your past guest is almost "criminal".
Tip #4 - Link Your PMS to the world – Minimize Allotments
Gone are the days when it was fine if your reservation system had one set of data and that was the only place people needed to check prior to making a booking. The old way of creating "Allotments" for travel agents and other 3rd party channels, is not your best interest. Think of your inventory as one big "allotment" that everyone shares and writes reservations to. it can be done if your GDS, Booking Engine etc are all linked in real time to your PMS.
